From NY to CT in September. Though I cannot claim her as a dependent. My sister's family kept her for 8 months and I for four. I incurred most of the expenses when I brought her to CT, she was quite ill--diabetes and memory loss. I don't know what to do because my tax return, claiming my mother, was rejected. What if any, recourse do I have. Thank you!

No, you cannot claim her and you cannot deduct her expenses. You really should sit down with a tax prep company in your area for help.
