How do you deal with someone who has Drop Foot Issues?

Caring for someone with drop foot problems? My mom had an accident 75+ years ago that resulted in dropped foot (left). She has been wearing a brace for around 15 years that helped her tremendously until she developed callouses AND broke her left hip. She uses a walker and when she is wearing her brace, she's basically ok walking. At night when she takes her brace off, she is unable to walk. My question is has anyone dealt with these issues and how. Thanks so much.
