How do I find a company that will hire family to do the cleaning ect?

Check his policy to see if it is pemitted to pay a family member. You would then need to execute a care agreement with Dad stating you responsibilites and payment for those. It would be most beneficial to see an elder law attorney to review the policy and prepare the contract. You will most likely need a doc's letter stating he cannot do the things you will do for him as well. See an attorney.

"cleaning ect" does not fall under the definition of Health Care, even with insurance. Please read the policy carefully to see what it covers. An agency would have to hire you, train you and certify you with fingerprinting and background checks and credit checks. Think it over.

You can call agencies in your area and talk with the owner, or manager. Take dad's policy in and ask if they have worked with his ins before. If they hire you they can assign you to dad's case. Just make sure how many hours the policy covers so dad doesnt get stuck with a bill. Also if dad needs extensive care make sure he knows you may not be the only one caring for him as the agency will never allow you to work overtime with the new laws that make overtime pay mandatory for home health workers. Besides you wouldnt want to work more than that as caregiving is a tough job. You should be ok just know the agency will charge 20.00 or mor per hour they will only pay you 10.00 or so.

Lindajo1966, if your Dad decides to hire someone who is not part of an Agency but an independent caregiver, he will need to check with his homeowner's insurance about getting a "workman's comp" rider. This rider covers cost if a caregiver gets hurt while on the job. Back injuries are a big thing, as lifting an adult can be very difficult.

I don't know much about it, but the company serves as sort of a clearing house for paying nannies, pet sitters, elder caregivers, you name it. The fees are less than an agency and caregivers set their pay rate. Care will deduct all taxes, medicare, social security, disability and unemployment. The works. Dad would send them a check, then they pay you. That is about all I know. Do not know if it would keep Dad out of being an employer or not.

The care website wont work because it is for private caregivers. They have a program that allows you to have taxes taken out of your pay but as I said it is not for companies so dad's insurance would not pay you in that case.
