Find Care & Housing
You could tell him that, but maybe you could instead tell him that she moved to France or married someone else. I like the first one better, since it won't make him jealous. As long as he doesn't decide to go to France to find her...

Cleonmacy, I see from your profile that your Dad has Alzheimer's/Dementia. Because of the memory issue, I wouldn't tell Dad that his previous wife had passed, as he will morn like it is the first time he heard about her passing. And will do the same each him he mentions he wants to remarry her and is told she is no longer here.

I liked JessieBelle's suggestion of saying that wife had moved out of the country. That way Dad can still have happy thoughts that maybe some day he might find her. It's a therapeutic fib that we sometimes need to tell an elder, who has memory issues, so not to upset them. If he asks if you have found her yet, tell him you are still searching. Hopefully Dad isn't computer savvy.
