Was told by Head Nurse they would let me know. That was on Monday and all I get is it us up to Insurance. Nuerologist requested it five weeks ago. I feel they are delaying until they can turn him out. Now last few days dad looks weaker and afraid he may have UTI, C diff or pneumonia.

I hate these rehab nursing homes. All I get is excuses. Even no ombudsman available this week and storm coming tonight and Monday. Plus Famiky meeting next Wednesday. My brother always takes side of others against me. He already chimed in saying MRI not important and at his age nothing can be done. We seem to butt heads all the time.

He was under for a little less than two hours. He had the worlds best surgeons. In fact he went to this place several times including surgery for a broken hip. However, do to the blood thinners and his anemia he started to bleed from ulcer. So about two weeks after surgery he was very weak and than had a colonoscopy.

Was his hip replacement done under general anesthesia ? Do you know how long he was under?
There are folks who say that when you are elderly, every hour under takes a month's recovery. I'm curious why you are so mistrustful of this facility. That's not a good situation.

He saw a Nuerologist on December 15. He has seen him before. The doctor recommended an MRI and EMG as further exploratory tests. As far as his current condition. Well he seems to always be sleepy and not sure he is drinking enough water or eating. They say they check BLood and for infections. I just do not trust them.
With MRI I and I guess the doctor would know more of what is going on. This was a man who three months ago was OK with little diminishing capacity prior to hip replacement.
I thought of pneumonia since last January he had it and C diff over a year and a half ago, this all stems from surgery, long hospital stay and unwilling or inability to do PT/ OT at times.

Worry about the infections first. An MRI is not going to fix those. Mom just went to the ER for stroke, they did a CT scan and sent her home. Not fixable when you are 87 with CHF & A-Fib.

Dad needs an MRI of his brain? To dx dementia? Why do you think he has cdiff, pneumonia or a uti? what symptoms is he displaying? That seems to be a wide net you're casting in terms of "what if he has".

If the MRI shows brain changes consistent with dementia, is there immediate action that needs to be taken? Why would you want to transport dad for a test that is not going to give information that is immediately actionable?

If he's having acute symptoms, make sure he gets tested for the conditions you named above. Are they listening to his chest? Have they done a recent u/a and blood work?

You sound very upset and anxious, I'm sorry for that. Do you have family to support you, or perhaps a therapist short term?

Write down all your questions for the care meeting. Why do you think they want to turn him out?
