Mom is in SERIOUS denial. I'd like to take him to the hospital, but she says No. I've noticed some things she had not done also like pay her bills or leave the stove on. How can me and my brother (forcibly take over) power of attorney?

You petition the court for Guardianship, that means about $5K in legal fees. The cheaper option is to call the County Office of the Aging and get them to send out a Social Worker to check on them.

Oh, and take dad to the ET. Just do it. Don't ask for permission.

Take your mom to see a geriatric doc who can advise you. Be sure you make a list of neglected things, such as unpaid bills
