Dad has a great relationship with his bank, so they allowed him to deposit the check. Problem solved.

I experienced the same situation as OldSailor. Had to have the check reissued.

I received one for Luz and the bank would not allow me to cash it. I had to go back to the issuer to cut a new check.

Moms was only $188. They split the refund that year. If they hadn't, she would have received the full amount before she passed.

Check with the Bank first. Mine allowed me to deposit Moms last check rebate to my account. A bank officer may be able to tell u how to handle it. If not, have Dad call the hospital and explain that she passed. They may reissue with proof of her death.

I would think so. But would call the check issuer to ask for it to be changed. But, if mom was on medicaid different rules may apply.
