I am in crisis, as poa and caregiver, grandpa was forced into nursing home. All our planning ignored and i am now on verge of homeless. We have lost everything and I don't have a phone, internet or vehicle. Three cars have been stolen, I was assaulted in the home after his death and too many robberies to list. No one is helping. The benefits center said fraud and still getting grandma checks, she died seven years ago. 2 advocates quit and no change in six months, mail is stolen.

Could you please explain this?

"three cars stolen assaulted in home after his death". Whose death?

"still getting grandma checks she died seven years ago" . Who's getting these checks? Who cashed them?

You're proxy under whose POA? What role have you played and how has all this fraud taken place over the years? What have you done to address it? I find it hard to believe that 7 years worth of checks would have been issued and the entity paying hasn't discovered that Grandma is deceased. Someone in the family should have reported her death at the time she died. So it does seem to be some inappropriate action somewhere along the line.

And who forced Grandpa into a nursing home, for what reason, and what action as proxy did you take to prevent this? CM mentioned an attorney; I saw "advocates" in your initial post. Could you elaborate on this issues as well?

More explanation is needed to clarify what the real situation is.

And Veronica, I believe you're right.

After going through all of this and being in the mess you are in, how are you able to care "for someone, living at home and the primary ailment is cancer."?

You were living in your grandfather's home with him as his primary caregiver and with power of attorney for him. For how long were you living there? And where are your grandfather's children? - that is your father/mother, or any aunts or uncles you might have?

Your grandfather has cancer, is that correct? And became so seriously ill that he had to be admitted to a nursing home? Is he now on hospice?

Meanwhile, your late grandmother's social security checks have for the seven years since her passing been received at your grandparents' home address and cashed. Cashed by whom?

Did the police show no interest in the theft of the cars and the assault on you? Are you under suspicion of committing any sort of offence?

And finally, why did your attorneys quit? Did you fire them or did they walk, and why?

Sounds like you need to talk to the police and to a lawyer.

I am sorry all of this has happened to you. This could be a scam too. What happened to have him removed from the home if you have POA? Were the authorities involved in moving him?
