My husband believes that there was 3 of me. One that left. He called my son and told him that it was time for the other lady to leave. He has an appointment with the neurologist December 4th. Doesn't remember me doing things with him and is confused as to if it's me or this other person. I took care of my mother in law and sister in law both had dementia. This is so hard with him.

Your husband thinks there is 3 of you but it is time for one of them to leave?

Call his primary care doctor now if you haven't already.

Could be a medication interaction or side affect. Keep the Neurologist appointment and talk to his PCP. Doctor's tend to focus on their own organ/specialty and not see the whole person. A PCP's purpose is to look at the whole person.

MaddieMae,
I don't think it is his medication. I brought him to the ER and they checked his blood. Everything was normal. I started noticing changes in him in July. Just moved from Texas to New Hampshire and getting doctor appointments here is awful. Seems like you have to wait forever when he could be getting some kind of help now.

Nee.lie, is this gradual, or is this sudden. Amazingly, a Urinary Tract infection can affect people, esp elders in a very bizarre way. I am so very glad you are getting a diagnostician to see him, and you may soon have some answers. Do jot down a few specific behaviors that disturb you, very brief description. Wishing you luck and hoping you will update us on how the appointment goes.

He could be experiencing dementia, but it sounds pretty advanced if it is.........did this behavior come on suddenly? If so, it could be a UTI *urinary tract infection* which can create all sorts of confusion that mimics dementia. It can also be other medical conditions, so don't automatically jump to the 'dementia' conclusion unless you've been witnessing this type of behavior for quite some time already.

Call his PCP to discuss the situation; don't wait until 12/4 to get a urine specimen in for culture!!!

Good luck!
