My dad was just approved for Medi-Cal, we live in California. he received a Notice of Action stating that the total amount of net non-exempt property held in his name, my mom's name and both of their names is $0.00

It also states my mom's Maximum Community Spouse Resource Allowance is $115,920.

It states that since his net nonexempt property does not exceed the Maximum Community Spouse Resource Allowance my mom can keep all of his net nonexempt property in her name. It also states that he may keep the remainder up to $2,000 inhis name. Then the notice goes on to state that he has 90 days to remove his name from the Community Spouse Resource Allowance.

It's that last part that has us confused. What does my dad have to do in order to remove his name from the Community Spouse Resource Allowance?

They have a very modest joint bank account, generally no more than $1,500 in at any given time. The also own a home together, again modest.

Hi Rick.... I'm not familiar with California State Law, or the Community Spouse Resource Allowance. I did a little looking, though, and if you call CANHR (California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform) they can probably tell you what you need to know. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
