Ma 91 w ALZ thinks it is dry but it (sniff) clearly is not. I contacted the nationally known company by phone and expressed my suggestion and this company graciously accepted my comment, however the agent said they do not take suggestions. I was bummed. I would definitely purchase color changing (not yellow) pads if they existed.

I contacted both poise and depends and they both say it's a great idea however they do not have one on the market......right now my issue is Ma's poise pad. The top layer stays so dry she thinks the whole pad is dry and it can weigh a pound when I have her remove it.

DHiBe.... not everyone wears the adult pants and wears something over them. My husband wouldn't wear anything else, he was home the majority of time. We went out to the doctor, that was it.

I think the main problem is that for the colour to change the diaper has to be really wet. I just wont leave my mum like that as she would be very very sore. Having tried every version I could find I still find net panties with a pad insert work best although for ease of use for the "less stable when standing" person pull ups are certainly easier. I had a bright idea that the strapped ones - the ones that do up like a babys diaper would be great OMG I couldnt get the darned thing on and when my mum stood up whoosh it was at her ankles!!! and I used to manage that so well when my children were babies

I don't know about incontinence pad. I do know that the Depends pamper have a strip right in the middle. I always saw that strip but didn't realize what it was - until my dad really soaked his pamper. I can't recall how the color changes but it does. He's now using catheter so I don't remember if the color gets darker.

Blooming heck we have these in the UK dont you in the US? Euron do them and they are identified as having an indicator strip or dual indicator strip. I do have to say that their indicator of wetness is far wetter than I would deem to be wet. Hell I got all excited them and then did a check you have them already just google continence pads with indicator strip and they will come up I am sure.

Well I suppose someday Soon, there'll be an app for this. LOL. But seriously for ambulatory patients if they are needing diapers, it's probably because they cannot control their sphincter or urinary area muscles, so there's no point in scheduling toilette visits. For lack of sensation is also like lack of muscle control down there. So for these unfortunate patients we need that App, or the color changing diaper, or some valid indicator of wetness. With babies wearing those super-absorbent diapers, I would put one finger in between diaper leg and check for wetness, it was hard to tell. But for number 2 the nose always knew.

Personally I think that is a great idea. On baby diapers, a yellow image turns blue (copper chloride). In my cell phone is a blue X that turns pink (cobalt chloride). Certain fabrics like a light blue, will immediately appear dark when wet, BUT customers may not like that

Oooo.k, ........I must be missing something here ......... incontinence pads are worn "under" clothing...... so how could the color change even be seen ???
One suggestion I used to do with ALZ-patients I cared for :: Institute a regimen of bathroom trips at convenient intervals, such as on arising, after breakfast, 1-2 hours later, before lunch... and so on... Many incontinent patients work it that way, whether they feel the urge or not !!! And this allows them to use fewer costly pads by emptying the bladder soon enough to prevent leakage....of course it depends on how acute the condition is, but there is one factor that always enters this scenario :: After sitting for a prolonged period of time, you can bet that an "immediate" trip to the bathroom is "IMMEDIATELY" productive !
.........EVEN IF THE URGE IS NOT FELT IMMEDIATELY !!! .........
With this type of habit change I managed to keep patients odor free, and cut their clothing changes to nearly zero, as well reducing their costly pads-changes needs. You have to also pay attention to their LIQUID INTAKE TIMING and give it about an hour after any large liquid intake to hit the bathroom. --- all of which becomes routine after a while....... I wish you well !
