Has anyone put childproof caps on the stove?

Mom 93 with moderate dementia wanders in the middle of the night I hear her because I have a baby monitor in my room. I am so afraid she is going to put something on the stove and go back to bed. This morning when I got up I found a bowl of water on the floor. She told me she forgot to feed the dog. We haven't had a dog in 35 years. Is this like sleepwalking?
