My aunts and uncles have said they will not help or cannot be bothered to take care of my grandparents, leaving it to me (a 23yo granddaughter) and my mother. We do not mind doing what we do, but in between work, school, cleaning our house and their house, we're exhausted.

If you could give us more information it would be quite helpful so we can answer better. Such as how old are your grandparents and what are their limitations and medical issues? Sounds like your grandparents are still live in their own home, are they able to keep up with paying for maintenance on the house? Do they still drive?

83 and 80. My grandfather is ESRD dialysis x3 a week for several hours. He has CHF,COPD,kidney disease, and is a chronic smoker(has smoked since age 11.) My grandmother has asthma,bipolar/some other mental illness we have never been able to determine(she takes Prozac for it),vertigo that leaves her on a walker and is very very hard of hearing. My grandfather can drive but we do not believe he should as he has hit mailboxes at relatives houses, gotten lost(we live in a very small town ) and gets confused easily. They do live in their own home with my aunt who is a nurse who works nights to get away from them because she can't deal with it.

Gosh your grandparents are young by comparison. But I am confused, in your original posting you said "My aunts and uncles have said they will not help or cannot be bothered to take care of my grandparents", then you said your Aunt lives with your grandparents.

Is there any reason why your grandparents can't hire a professional Caregiver to come in during the day so that your Aunt can get a good night sleep during the day either after her work shift or before her work shift?

They have a nurse come in a few times a week(we pay,not them) and as for cleaning the house,we have offered to pay but they are so fixated on no outside help and only want me or my mother. My mom is the youngest of 7(3 boys,4 girls) My aunt that lives with my grandparents has made them feel like they are a burden and it has caused them to resist all help offered unless it's from my mom or I. They make too much money and aren't eligible for any state assistance and the same is true for my mom and I. I don't regret what I do at all,but unless there are more than 24 hours in a day or I clone myself and my mom,we can't do everything.
