Contact your senator or Congressman. Google it. They have offices, better to go in person, but you can write also. Request their help in obtaining the necessary information. Bring your father, if you can. Within the month you will have what you need.

Here's the answer I received from a friend . They need to check with a service organization in their area, i.e. Disabled American Veterans; VFW; American Legion; Military Order of Purple Heart (if he or she is a Purple Heat recipient) of Vietnam Veterans of America. They can assist him or her with obtaining a new or replacement DD 214. They can also go online at National Archives and Records Administration and obtain the form that must be completed in order to get the DD 214. They can fax it in and get it back in about 5 days to fax#: 301-837-0483. The service officer with any of the service organizations can assist the veteran with a claim for disability for their hearing loss. They have to be service connected in order to be eligible for the hearing aides through the VA. Or the can call VA directly and have the forms mailed out to them at 1-800-827-1000. It is very difficult to get through there menu options.

On the above posts-yes, they are very helpful they sent my dad's records...well some of them-my dad served more than once....apparently they had a large fire that burned up many Navy and Army records from WW2-Korea but they were able to give me the Coast Guard ones.....I still have his ID and dog tags for the others. They were very nice and accommodating! Sent records immediately!!!!! Now if the VA was that efficient it would be a breeze!!
