My veteran husband (7 yrs in US NAVY) passed yrs ago. If I had to go into assisted loving, as the suviving spouse would I be able to get any financial aid towards my care in either assisted living or skiled care?
You need to call the VA to see what you may be entitled to. In the military the spouses aren't allowed benefits. Husband was in the Military not you. A friend had to work until she was 65 for healthcare and could collect Medicare. Her husband was able to use a VA hospital she wasn't.
Aides and Attendance can only be gotten if the Vet was in the military during a war. It can't be gotten if ur on Medicaid. It is not easy to get especially if you don't have the paperwork needed. I thought my Mom was a shoe in but got denied. Since by that time Mom was almost on Medicaid, I chose not to go on with it.
