This is an unusual post. Does your mom have a contract with the AL you could read to understand the terms? Has she given her POA to someone? Most caregivers are trying to get their folks into an AL and not out of one. I can't imagine why she couldn't just leave but I don't have experience with this. As you have mentioned her meds that might be one reason to visit with the office to make sure you can transfer her prescriptions without an interruption.

Yes and Yes. One thought, she typically will be responsible for 30 days (or so) payment after notification (in writing) to the facility. She will also lose the upfront deposit she has paid. ($4000 - 6,000 is average) They will give her the unused meds she paid for as well as scripts from any physicians that may have ordered them while she was in A.L. One question, you want to bring her home but does she want to go with you?

Yes she will be over-joyed to be with us and safe. She is not receiving her personal hygiene care and she was left alone in the bathroom again and fell, numerous complaints against them, its a new facility under a year old. We are filing a complaint with the state after we remove her. I do not under stand the 30 day payment notice. We are removing her Thursday her bill is due Saturday. We are waiting 2 and 1/2 months to put her into a safer facility when it opens. We are not the only family doing this and filing a complaint.

Thanks for giving us more information. It makes perfect sense now as to why you are taking her out but I would still look over the contract. Sometimes there are small gotchas in a contract that had you known you could have done things a little differently. Like putting your vacating in writing might be required to stop ongoing charges or something of that nature. Good luck on the move and her new AL.

Thank you but they are not getting paid one more dime. We have an admission paper, but her payment deposit is past 6 months so she eats that. They also fired (walked out ) their administrator. Its a sad thing its her home town and a small town. So sad. Not one more dime....maybe a lawsuit if they attempt that. Also they were overmedicating her too 2 months ago, we have proof, we have just had enough. Thank you. We do not want to pre-warn them we are afraid of rebuttal sad as it is.
