I am taking care of my mother 24/7. She can not be left alone. I can not work and my saving is gone. She brings in little money. I have been doing this for 2 years now, and need help.

I agree with those that commented. Only a few states will; depending on your state. Mine does not, but my tax preparer made suggestions on what respite care and what won't hurt you financially. I'm very grateful for the suggestions made to me; can't hurt to ask.

The vast majority of grown children who are caregivers do not get paid... unless the parent can afford to pay that grown child from their own retirement fund.

Some States have Medicaid programs where a person can get paid for being a caregiver, but note the pay is very minimal. Some States may be cutting such a program if the Federal government decides to slash funds to the States :(

Since Mom needed 24 hour care [your profile says she has Alzheimer's/Dementia], it might be time to decide that Mom needed a higher level of care, and Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] will pay for all the cost of a nursing home.

Sometimes moving to a nursing home isn't want we want, but thankfully that is a choice as it sounds like you really need to get back into the work force now and start saving for your own retirement, getting health insurance, and other work related benefits.

It depends on what state you live in. Does she receive Medicaid? Would she qualify? If so, some states will pay certain family members for care in the community. Are you able to contact your local department of social services? They can guide you on resources available to help you and your mother. They may even be able to provide some respite care so that you can have a break.
