I’m unemployed and taking care of my father and want to know if I can get paid for it.

Rafaelp66, the vast majority of grown children who are caregivers for their parent(s) do not get paid.... unless the parent can pay. If your father can pay you, then you would need to draw up an employment agreement stating what would be your duties and how much per hour.

Otherwise, check with your State Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] office to see if your Dad could qualify for Medicaid. I believe most States can pay you an income, but don't be surprised if it is minimum wage for a few hours each week.
