Jogging pants or sweat pants(I think they're one in the same) with the elastic waist band worked best for my husband when he wore Depends. Not having to futz with zippers or buttons makes for easier access. Just pull them down with the pull -up underwear.
I bought my dad pants from Amazon that come in a wide assortment of colors and have elastic waistbands, no buttons or zippers. They worked great. Search on Amazon for pants for seniors or disabled men
I would encourage him to wear them around the house, a blanket can be a trip hazard.
