My dad is in AL and I want to be able to visually monitor his activity. I have read about such cameras and was hoping that someone could guide me to a good quality system that won't break the bank. Thank you all for your help.

Isthisrealyreal, before purchasing such a camera, you would need to get permission from the Assisted Living facility. Many facilities do not permit such a device.

Because it is a private room, they said it would be fine. I should have clarified that.

I think this is a great idea. Watch over dad while keeping everyone on their toes. I'd definitely do the same.

I use the Arlo cameras for my aunt. They don’t require wiring and can be moved about to find the best location. They do require internet service and can easily be viewed on your smart phone etc.
They utilize the cloud and have no monthly fee unless you add more features. I started out with three and added two more. Bought mine from Costco. SAMs has them from time to time. Best Buy, etc. check out the Arlo website.
I find it very helpful to check on my aunt and her care team. The cameras run on rechargeable batteries. If you run a search on this site you can find others suggestions.
