Can an individual be on Medicaid in a skilled nursing home in IL and still be on Medicare supplement?

I was told it is possible , the reason I wanted the Medicare supplement was so I wouldn’t be restricted , some doctors don't want to take Medicaid patients but will always take Medicare and with the supplement I wouldn’t have a large out of pocket payment.

I am currently in SNH Medicaid pending.

Yes. My mother had a secondary insurance supplement policy and she paid the premiums quarterly.

I don't know about IL, but you can in GA. My mom is on Medicaid and has a supplemental policy. I thought she would have to drop it, but that wasn't the case.

Yes you can have both— sometimes Medicaid will pay the Medicare premium. But once on Medicaid, you can drop the supplement. Medicaid will pay whatever traditional Medicare does not.

The problem is that you have to pay the premium and you are not allowed to have certain assets when on Medicaid.

How would the monthly premium get paid is the question that will decide if you can keep your supplemental insurance.
