If mom is in the hospital, it is time for discharge but she can't be sent home alone due to dementia, and there are no nursing homes (that will accept Medicaid) beds available, can they release her to me?
You can refuse. You are under no obligation. They are just putting on the pressure. I assume she is already on Medicaid but just lost her old bed for a lenghthy stay in the hospital. The hospital should be able to step up their own plan to find a bed. If they keep pushing, maybe you can tell them you will contact the state ombudsman that they are harrassing you
