Blood test shows I have low sodium. In a weeks time, I go back for another test. I've read about other people and they are in hospital. WHY??

You mean why are others in the hospital and you are not?

What symptoms do you have? How is your underlying health?

Several years ago, my mom, who was 88, presented with bp of 240 over 120. She was taken by ambulance to the ER and found to have low sodium.

So, she was in the hospital due to hyponeutremia, but of course there were other issues.

Were you given salt tablets or told to restrict liquids?

Yes Chatter. Call the doctor and find out what you should/shouldn't be doing in the meantime. How low was your sodium? Were you experiencing symptoms?

Chatter, I understand that you must be worried by this. But why on earth would you ask strangers who can't possibly know anything about you or your medical history *instead* of asking your doctor?

You don't have to wait until next week and the next blood test. Call your doctor's office and request a ring back. I'm sure somebody will be happy to explain what's happening, and what your doctor is checking.
