Pain is an issue. Recently returned from summer home and fell getting out of bed. ER and 3 days at Holmes regional. Patient is presently in Melbourne Terrence and feels not getting best PT. Wants to go home. Wife not able to care for him.

FIRST you need to know which ones are covered by his insurance. Talk to his PT team about his progress and pain management. Try to observe him in PT without letting him see you there. Never take the patient solely at his word or promise him you will get him back home. One day at a time.

Is there something specific about the pt that he is unhappy about? Patients often don't "get" what the program is all about for a variety of reasons. My mom, post-season in rehab was upset because others were getting better and going home". She simply didn't recognize that the "others" were 50 year olds getting knee and hip replacements. WE didn't recognize that she had developed vascular dementia.

Must disagree. Anchor is NOT, I repeat, NOT!!! A good facility.
My father lost 35 pounds yet his discharge summary stated he gained 2 pounds while there. Doctor owned; lousy care; not recommended.
Melbourne Terrace is as of this writing a decent facility . Family should be proactively involved & present to observe and speak up when things go off the rails:for example : laundry not being done, showers not being offered ( sponge bath by resident is common) missing food items from room trays; hydration not being provided each shift; not following doctor's orders by weekend staff; delayed response to call bells. Quality of Resident care is variable . Someone must make sure family member is truly receiving all services because staff WILL shortchange them yet record will indicate it was done. Even the best rated places are only as good as the standards they are compelled to uphold. The sick recovering resident may not be fully aware of being shortchanged.
Be there, observe, be their voice. By pass in house administration& contact the owners if issues arise otherwise your concerns will not be documented or resolved. Don't hesitate to contact Ombudsman & request an in facility assessment.
