What is the best medication for dementia and lack of sleep for a 95 year old?

I am already giving her Seroquil but it is not working. She thinks there are small children running around my house and that I should be taking care of them. There are none. Some days she can be almost nice and you can deal with her, others she is like a wicked woman, kicking and slapping and being verbally abusive. She is diabetic and eats very well, too much and is getting heavier. Always asking for food though, and I have a sugar free house. Someone has to be with her 24/7 because she tries to get up and cannot stand or walk. Placing her in a home is too expensive and I also have a 73 brother living with me with health problems.

Have you looked into Medicaid for your loved one? If she qualifies for Medicaid they pay for the nursing home along with her social security benefits.
Try going along with her delusions. A minister with dementia was constantly seeing children in his home and wanted them cared for. His wife ( a member of my caregiver support group) simply reassured him. "I gave them all snacks earlier and their parents are coming for them soon. They will have dinner at home." This worked for them much better than arguing.
Talk to her doctor about a change in dosage and/or a change in meds.
