Being used buy a woman who I thought was my friend who lives with her grandmother. I was asked to move in, free room and board and pay every week for me to purchase what I want in my personal items and all that as long as I care for her grandmother. Three and a half months later now I've gotten tired of not getting paid anything at all. I am demanding some kind of pay now. Her and her sister are trying to kick me out and telling me that I cannot lock my door where my stuff is because it's not my house. Therefore I'm supposed to leave my belongings not locked up when I'm not here and trust that they won't go through them. What legal action can I take to 1. receive my 3 and 1/2 month past due pay and 2. make sure they can't get into my belongings when I'm not here. And can they evict me without paying me the money I'm owed?

Find Care & Housing
I think you need to get out ASAP. Unless you signed an agreement, you don't have a leg to stand on. Keep your door locked. Their house or not, you have a right to protect your belongings. I hope u have a place to go to.

If they give u any problems with moving out, call the police.

I am not sure that I understand your situation. I will say that you should be paid as a caregiver. It sounds like there was some confusion or perhaps misunderstanding on each of your parts as to what was expected.

I am sorry that it didn’t work out for you or the family. Stick around and maybe others will have insight as to how to resolve this situation.

I am not entirely sure that it can be resolved without having a written caregiver contract. Did you have something in writing at the onset of your caregiving? Please clarify for us. Thanks.

Do you have anything in writing or a witness to the agreement between the two of you?
