My mother has not been diagnosed with mental illness, although she was recently in the hospital in the psych ward for a psychotic episode. My sister and I would like to have a guardian appointed to deal with her finances. We have no idea the cost or time involved and I was hoping to get some general information.

Hi Terry
I don't know the answer to your question but I'll respond to have this message get more attention for you. My opinion is that if your mother has funds,  the charges ( whatever they are) will come from that. If she doesn't have funds and the state is going to be her conservator then the state pays but I don't know that for a fact. Google your state And county with these questions. Call your county judge's office and ask who handles this for your county and go from there.  You can also call a qualified NAELA certified attorneys office and ask for a ballpark answer. Good luck
