My mother is in a nursing home facility. They are requiring her to have a sitter during the day-time hours (usually 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.). She is currently on Medicaid. My question: is there any sort of assistance in paying for the private sitters?

It sounds as if she needs a higher level of care than the current facility is able to provide. You may need to move her. There are facilities that offer what they call a continuum of care so she would change rooms and stay put. I think there are many people that should consider more carefully increasing needs before choosing a facility.
