i one upped em with well placed diotomecious earth. their shell is made up of multiple plates and the dust keeps the plates from closing off and they die from dehydration. in hindsight its been fun. at least a dozen hospice / aps people told me i couldnt kill them without professional help. as the results became evident the naysayers have changed the subject to the weather and such. asses. if i werent smarter than a bug id be rightfully ashamed..

Hello pattie,

There was a previous discussion regarding bed bugs in the community. I am including it below in hopes that you can get some direction from the answers provided within.

That was nice aging care people! I saw that pattie had already posted on that thread though. I think she is looking for some financial help. Is that right pattie?

I don't know where you could get help financially but I have heard,as mentioned on the other post, that the only sure way to get rid of bed bugs is to hire these specialists that come in and heat the house up. It is pricey though. But chemical free.

Wish I could help more. I know ,a few years ago, bed bugs seemed to be everywhere! My husband ,who travels, was freaked out about staying in hotel rooms. they say to look behind the pictures and the head board to see if their are bed bugs in the room and if there are get out! You are supposed to check before you even bring your luggage in. Even then , when he traveled during the bed bug plague he would leave his luggage in the car and bring his clothes in and straight to the laundry. If you dry the clothes on high heat for a good long while it should kill any hanger ons.

One person said - if it is a really hot day put the infested stuff in the car on a hot blacktop and let it sit for a few days and heat up. Bed bugs are not like fleas which will die off after a few months of no food (blood) but the heat is what gets them. But if the house has them bring the stuff back in will only get them re-infested.

Good luck. and ((((hugs))))

IWant thank everyone for very helpful suggestions on how to get rid of bed bugs for my little elderly man. we have begun the process of getting the heat treatments. He is a little hardheaded but I have the patience of Job. I forsee a lot of extra work in the future. It will be worth it to get a few more hours of sleep. By the way , his house has a reverse mortgage on it, so we can't get any help from a landlord. I am glad to know that there are decent ,compassionate people in the world. THANK YOU!!!

hospice offered to pay for treatment for us but since i wiped them out they have retracted the offer. you can kill the sob's but you have to do some reading and be prepared to think like a bug for a while. i do not recommend the heat treatment. it is only 60 % effective in the northern states. chemical treatment was offered for our home for only 1200 bucks and its a good sized 3 bdrm home. we obtained 3 different proposals. one company wanted to freeze the bed bugs, another wanted to steam the bed bugs, the third company was campaigning to SAVE the bed bugs. lol..
