They have never said the vaccine and boosters will keep you from getting COVID just that it would be a milder case. I was in Alaska in June. I am vaccinated, one booster. We had to tested before the land cruise and before the sea cruise. We were asked to mask up. The last day of the Cruise me and DH started having symptoms. When we got home, we tested positive. First time. Just like the flu, its here to stay. It was shown that flu has been at its lowest since we have masked up. For me, do what your gut tells you to do. I don't think there's any right or wrong. I will probably get my second booster and that is it. I have never had the flu shot and in 73 yrs have only had it maybe 2x.

JoAnn we must have been there at the same time. Did the land but all of the men of 3 couples got it before the ship. It was a very expensive flight back home. Most of us masked. Two weeks later the state went back into the black for cases. The only symptom was a dry cough

Also in reply to the OP, I hope your Auntie will not become ill. There are many ways to help boost her immune system and many antiviral treatments available in the event that she does become sick. Wishing you the best.

Every one who works at my Dad's care facility is required to be vaccinated and wear masks at all times. I don't know an exact percentage but I'm sure the majority of residents are also vaccinated. They have had a couple booster clinics there to keep people up to date if their families choose to do so. My Dad is double jabbed and boosted.

Despite this there was an outbreak of Covid a few months ago and they locked the place down. No visitors and no leaving for the residents except for medical appointments. A whole lot of good all those precautions did!

Thankfully no one died and most only experienced mild illness. My Dad had no symptoms. I can't say for sure if his vaccines actually did anything or not. One thing that is KNOWN admitted scientific fact is that you can still be infected AND pass on the virus even if you are vaccinated so I don't know why anyone is surprised that it is still around.

It is an endemic virus just like the common cold and flu at this point. Masks and vaccines will never eliminate it. The best you can do is try to maintain your loved ones' and your own overall health - which is a focus I see lacking in medicine in general.

There's not much money in that.

Covid seems to be in the rise among people I know. One is in the hospital with double pneumonia and it doesn’t look good. His wife believes that Covid is a hoax perpetrated by the government and that hospitals diagnose people with Covid because they get money from the government for Covid cases. These two wouldn’t mask because that’s another conspiracy to make us sick. Wife wouldn’t let husband have the Covid treatment resmidivir because she thinks it kills people, and besides, the doctors are wrong and husband didn’t have Covid anyway. These two are college graduates. We might be on the way to curing Covid, but you can’t cure stupid. Please get vaxxed and don’t be carrying Covid into care facilities!

Umm..even if you are vaccinated you can still get and pass on the virus to others. Maybe if you're actually sick just stay home.

Maine127, I agree with MACinCt, Omicron is very contagious. Then add in those who stopped wearing their masks, we will probably see an uptick in Covid, and in the flu now that cold weather is peeking around the corner.

Yes, quite a bit over the past month. We are in NC.

Omatron is very contagious. Deaths are now way down but not 0. This is a good reason to get the updated booster
