Lost income to care for parents in my home

Find Care & Housing
Jenny, majority of adult children do not get paid for caring for their parents. Unless your parents can pay you an hourly rate, but that doesn't sound like that would work in your case :(

Were your parents retired when they came to live with you? If yes, how did they survive money wise before that? I assume they both get Social Security and Medicare. Any pensions? Did they sell a house? Any equity from the house?

Now maybe your parents could apply and see if they qualify for Medicaid. Depending on what programs are available in your State, you might be able to get some pay. But it would be minimum wage and just for a few hours each week.
