I do not want to put him in a nursing home so I quit my job to stay with him full time and I am really needing help financially.

Majority of grown children do not get paid, unless the parent can pay them themselves from their own retirement fund.

Sadly the grown children will quit work BEFORE looking into the situation to see if, at all, their State offers some type of program to help pay for caregiving. If your State does offer such a program, please note it won't be full time pay, maybe a few hours per week.

Shirley59, it depends on which state you live in, but we have a few clients where we have hired their family member to provide care for them through Medicaid. We are very careful about doing this and we do visits to the home to make sure the client is being cared for. This means that Medicaid pays our agency for the services, and we pay the family member as an employee.

Keep in mind that this is dependent upon Medicaid approving them for servces.
