If they are paying you in any way (room and board, for example, or cash) it is a good idea to have a personal care agreement in place, listing what you are doing and how they compensate you. This makes it clear that whatever they are giving you isn't a "gift," which matters if they ever need to apply for Medicaid.

If one of them is now on Medicaid and some hours have been approved for in-home help and you want to provide that service, you will probably need to fill out an employment application form. Talk to the Medicaid case worker about what is possible and the procedures involved.
