I had a root canal done several years ago, but a small, tender lump appeared above the tooth about 1/4 inch up from the gum line. My Endodontist ruled out cancer and told me it was a failed root canal. In an effort to save the tooth, he performed a re-treatment of the root canal. It's been about 3 weeks since the re-treatment and although it's improved a wee bit, the lump is still there and tender.

At this point, it appears there's only a couple of options left? 1) Apicoectomy 2) Tooth Extraction

I have a follow-up appointment with the Endodontist next week and will be asking him for his (costly) opinion :) but I'd also like to hear the experiences of others. Thank you for your time.
