I'm seeking a conversation with someone knowledgeable in the area of financial elder abuse to better understand its definition and symptoms. In other words, while my gut tells me that abuse has occurred, my personal shock and disbelief with what I've uncovered leave me with some doubt.

Do you feel comfortable taking this issue to law enforcement?

There are also the Adult Protective Services agencies, but I personally haven't found them to be very thorough.

What you might do is run a search on elder financial abuse; I'm sure you'll get a lot of hits, including for law firms which handle this.
