The only one I've heard mentioned here is nomorobo, which according to my web search is a cheaper option.

I haven't tried anything like that; however, when I got my mother a new phone for use in the nursing home, I got the Doro model from Consumer Cellular. It has a blocking feature that works by blocking any calls that don't come from her list of contacts. I programmed the phone so that she would only get calls from myself, my sister and my husband.

Call carrier and ask if there is a way to block all calls except those that come from people you list. That may not cost anything extra.

Someone mentioned on another thread that Xfinity has a free option for this.

I never heard of it. I will be following answers on this thread. Would be wonderful if there was something out there that would work for phones of vulnerable seniors.

My landline phone I have is through Spectrum, and they have started a while ago, alerting their customers by having the words "spam risk" come across the screen, when it's not a legit call. Which is nice, as I just let those calls go to my voicemail, and of course they seldom leave me a message, and if they do, it's always about a charge that's been put on my Visa card, which of course I know is false.

I also use Tracfone for my cell phone service,(have for the last 10+ years) and I can tell you honestly that I rarely receive a call from an unknown number on that. And again, if I don't recognize the number I just don't answer it.
