I have the same problem. You are doing it single-handed because you are trying to remove the diaper from under a non-moving person who cannot help, at the same time removing a wet underpad or sheet while with the other hand trying to lift the buttocks enough to get these wet or soiled item out. If you just pull on them, they easily tear the skin which is very fragile at this point. HELP.
I handle the removal by myself. When the patient is immobile and the diaper is wet, I just lift the patient’s buttock and pull it off. I have never experienced the skin tearing. If the patient fights, well you need help or you warn them not to fight.
Why do you need to do it with one hand? Do you have to hold her down with the other? What concerns me about her combativeness is that at some point, someone is going to get hurt. I’ve never tried doing it that way with hubby, but he doesn’t fight me. If you use “pull up” type briefs, they are much harder to put on. I use the tab type product which is a lot easier. If you call them “diapers” to her face, you may be angering her. Babies wear diapers. Call them “underwear” when you speak with her.
