For staying home with my mom

I guess "Aging and Disability" is a department in your County? Is it run by Medicaid? or County?

You mention in your profile that you also need to be at ur brothers funeral. My suggestion would be not to make Mom sit through the whole thing. Those suffering from Dementia get overwhelmed easily. Do not make her sit thru a viewing where everyone will stop and talk to her. Maybe bring her in right before the service. Maybe allowing her to view the body with family only trying to explain what is going on. As soon as the service is over, take her out. I may not take her to the graveside. Maybe to some ones house for some peace and quiet waiting for the luncheon where again, I would not stay long. You can tell when its becoming too much for them. My Mom was only good for about an hour.

If its just a memorial service because he was cremated , thats better. But still, do not expect her to want to be there long.

For the sake of us on this forum who are not familiar with "aging and disability" and it's waiting list... is this a government program? You're in NV. Just to clarify so we can give you the best guidance. Thanks

I searched and found the program to help seniors to stay at home in Nevada. Is this the program you signed up? You should call back and follow up. Waiting 8 months is too long. Perhaps, your application was incomplete and they just put it aside and eventually closed it. You should call back and ask what happened to it.
