Does anyone have experience with this benefit, I am almost positive that mother qualifies for this benefit. Has anyone had experience with this through the VA for Windows for 20 years Korea & Vietnam veteran??? She wants to stay in her home as long as possible.

I tried to get this for my Dad

First, she will be permitted only $20,000 in total assets
Then..depending on her income, she may qualify for some amount of money. She can spend her income on her own healthcare and in home aids and that will help to bring down her income. Check with the VA office on what are the expenses that they allow as part of the spend down.

My dad could not qualify on the basis of the assets alone, so I never went further with the application

First you find your Dad's discharge papers. Then call the VA.

You have to find your dad's discharge papers. That's crucial, because the archive holding military records burned down. Then you should find someone to help you. I got someone from the VFA to help me, and it was really, really crucial. By the way, it takes forever, I am still waiting for results. You also need to show that her expenses are exceeding her monthly income.

$20,000 Assets exclude home and Vehicle, I understand those veterans with a lot of Land and bank securities it would be hard to get Aid and Attendance...I am not sure that home and vehicle being excluded from assets.
