My mother is blind and sleeps 23 hours per day. Her husband has Alzheimers. They refuse to live in assisted living (they did it for 9 months, hated it and checked themselves out). They refuse to live with us or allow people to help them or regularly take all their important medication.

My 5 siblings and I have offered them a bunch of options, but they refuse all of them (i.e. assisted living; live with one of us; have a live in aid). We don't know what else to do. We are considering legal options.

1. Do any of you have other ideas?
2. If not, how do we get guardianship? What is the likelihood we would get it?
