Elders are at higher risk for Covid and other illnesses due to their age and co-morbidities like coronary artery disease, diabetes, and dementia. Do day cares require Covid vaccination for participants and aides? Do they require extra hand washing, distancing or any preventive measures at all?

My MIL's LTC facility has barely had a report of covid of staff or residents anymore. They stopped following the guidelines once they were officially ended. It may be due to herd immunity plus the availability of vaccines plus the weakened iteration of the virus, which now has much less profound impact.

The onus to protect is now an individual responsibility.

Our new Senior Center building opened in January of this year. It has an air purification system. Masks are optional and hand washing is encouraged. The former buildingmmasks were required My mother attends a group every Tuesday & Thursday. We test often and are negative.

Did mask requirement change because of the new building air purification? Or because mask requirements dropped everywhere this year when covid emergency was announced to be over in the United States? Are you still able to get free testing? Are you in the U.S.?

Tbh I think you will be hard pressed to find a place that enforces such guidelines, at this point I think it is mostly up to the person to do what they feel is best for their own safety. Doubt anyone will stop you, but I also doubt the staff will go out of there way to police it maintain it.

I don't have a loved one that goes to Day Care. But, regularly go to a Senior Center that has seniors dropped off and they spend the day there with help from the staff. It's a type of a day care for them, mixed with walk ins like me for Bingo, crafts, lunch, etc.

There are no Covid precautions that I've noticed. None of us social distance, no masks, etc. Covid has not been mentioned by the staff while I've been there. We sit in groups at tables to eat lunch.

Edited: I deleted what I originally said about hand sanitizer. As, I do remember seeing one in the lunch room.

No idea if anyone's vaccinated or not, and I was not asked about it when I signed up last month.

My local Senior Center (I don't belong, but have friends who do) has NEVER required vaccines. Catholic Charities is the local contract agency and they state that to require vaccines would be a violation of religious freedom.

My mother's Adult Day also never required vaccines but I live in an extremely conservative town.

Nothing beyond a hand sanitizer at the front door.

Since viruses are airborne, that’s not enough. But at least it’s something.

My BIL has a PHD in immunology. He says masks don't work.

I think after 3 yrs, COVID is here to stay. Its going to be like the Flu and you will get a shot each year for the new strain. The flu kills the elderly too.

I haven't seen anywhere with covid prevention policies still in place. Not nursing home, hospital, doctor office. I don't know about adult day care. Can you call to ask?

Deaths from COVID are way down and all restrictions are removed in the community. It was recently reported that 75% have been exposed which means heard immunity is with us. So either vaccinate, or choose to personally wear a mask. We are in the new normal and we are not living in a bubble
