My grandmother has recently begun waking in the middle of the night, roaming the house, waking us up and asking weird questions. When do the collection ladies come? Where's the lady that does my shower? There's things in my room that need selling, can you sell my slippers? etc. Would this be a type of "sundowning" they talk about? Anything we can do to try and help this situation? It's making very restless nights for us all.

Has Grandma been formally diagnosed with dementia? It might be worth having her checked for a UTI.
It might be time to at least start considering memory care. you can't caretake without sleep. She is likely to start wandering outside too which of course is very unsafe.

Talk to her doctor about the need to have her sleep through the night, so you can!

Dear Price,

I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through with your grandmother. I know its very hard on the family, everyone needs their sleep to function. I would definitely get your grandmother evaluated by a doctor. Like Veronica said maybe she has a UTI, or is this side effects of new medication? Poor diet? Depression? Or cognitive decline? Please don't hesitate to seek out a second and third opinion till you are able to find the answers.

No, this is not sundowning
That usually occurs in late afternoon, as the sun is going down, not in the middle of the night . You are seeing something else.
