denying she has Alzheimer’s and she’s moving out….please help

Discuss with her care team. She may need her meds adjusted.

However, this may be a golden opportunity to move her to a care facility. Taking care of a dementia patient in the home is difficult, and it often becomes unsustainable. Look at some memory care facilities, and if push comes to shove, you'll be ready to say, "Mom, I couldn't agree with you more. It's time for you to move out." Then she goes, and you can again get a good night's sleep. (Because even though there are meds available, she could get a lot worse and exhibit other behavior you can't live with, such as wandering.)

Tommy, are you suggesting--do you see evidence--that these two things are connected?
I would discuss with your Mom's MD if I were you. And do be certain, for any behavior changes that come on suddenly, that you check for urinary tract infection. You can keep on hand a jar of those dipsticks you get cheap at pharmacy to test urine at home for any signs of infection; if they are present you will want to have urine tested by sterile method of C&S. Check with the doc.
Good luck to you.

You need to put hinge locks on all of your doors and once they start sloping, it’s time to start thinking about placement in a locked memory care facility.

Also, make her world smaller and start putting combination locks on all interior doors. She can’t slam doors she can’t open.
