My mother passed away at 2:30 this morning. I was sleeping for a few hours while my sister watched over her so I wasn't with her when she died, but I'm okay with that. It was a rough few days for her, and I hope we eased it at much as possible under the circumstances. I'll say more after I've had a chance to get some sleep and get my thoughts in order. Thanks to all who responded to my earlier threads and have walked this road ahead of me and shared your insight and wisdom. Carla

Please, when you feel like her death is more than you can handle, there is an author that helped me at times like that. He has many books on grief. His name is Alan D. Wolfelt, PH.D.

Carla, my condolences. I’m very sorry for your loss.

Caregiving is bumpy. It brings up so many nutso feelings. As does the end of caregiving.

You did a wonderful job standing by your mother in her final years.....and her final months. She is at peace now.

You will find peace as well — but it might be a complicated journey. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself.

I’m thinking of you.

Carla,my heart goes out to you.I lost my "angel" mom almost 3 years ago,I miss her every day we were soulmates,my best friend. My husband and I had the honor of taking care of her in
.the last 2 yrs of her life she lived to be 94!We didnt really have to take care of her, sharp as a whip died of natural causes.I could go on and on ,however its your turn now I have 2 suggestions, which helped me;-feel your feelings, and grab a notebook and journal eg,I even wrote poetry about my angel....Peace-cindy B,

Carla, I'm so sorry for your loss. I Know its been a rough couple of weeks of you caing for her in her home on Hospice, but your Mom most surely appreciated all of your care and devotion, and eventually you will take away a Real sense of love and comfort, knowing you did the right thing for your Mom and you fulfilled her wish to stay in her home til the end.

I'll be thinking and praying for you in the coming days, it's time now for you to try and get some rest, and remember, you don't have to rush through burial and memorial services, a day or two will not make any difference, you now need a good solid day to yourself, just to try and relax. I know this from experience, having been through this with all four of our parents passing, take at least a day, just to breath! Again, so sorry Sweetie!
