I used a belt from my hubby's fleece bathrobe and pull it across her middle and tie it on each side of the bed. I make sure it's not too tight, but tight enough that she can't get up. That's been working for us. Of course, she is very placid. Not like your mom Barb.
Msmom, Full moon is Monday, so meds may or may not help. Mom is always a train wreck for close to a week before, during and after the full moon. That seems to be when I have the most problems with her. Also, she could have a UTI now that she has a cath in. Have them test her urine, just to make sure. Could be the reason for her decline too. Mom's PC worked in NHs for 15 years and said UTI's are a leading cause of death in the elderly. Should be easy to get a specimen with the cath. Good luck! Yes Kim, I have had RLS for over 20 years. I have autoimmune disease, Raynaud's, etc. Was tested for sleep apnea about 6 years ago and the results showed Rls was the culprit. I am up to 4mgs of Requip before bed. It works most of the time, but still makes me very nauseous a few nights a week. There are some nights I could fall asleep standing up, but my legs just keep moving. Oh yeah, the whole body gets itchy and jumpy on the nights it doesn't work. On the days I forget my heart meds, it's really bad. I would kill for one good nights sleep! Bobbie!!! Ted!!!! Hungover???? Good for you!! I think it's great that you finally meet. Hope you are having a wonderful time together, and Ted, make sure the Captain behaves herself!!! Have a wonderful visit!!! Cricket, Glad you had a good day today. we all need one of those every here and there. Linda, I hope you were able to have a good day today and didn't let anyone get under your skin. I'm sure your husband regrets what he said. It was the pain and the thought of all that company that made him nasty. But, if it wasn't, DOG HOUSE tonight!!!! Diane, hope you had a good day. Kuli, Happy biking!!! Lucky girl!! Rossella, Hope you can get a break soon. Jen, You're awfully quiet. Everything okay? Waitng for those pics!!! Time for Requip and then BED!!! Best time of the day!!!

A woman goes into Cabela ' s to buy a rod and reel for her grandson ' s birthday. She doesn’t know which one to get, so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter. The clerk was standing behind the counter wearing dark shades. She says to him, “Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?” He says, “Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything from the sound it makes.” She doesn’t believe him but drops it on the counter anyway...... He says, “That ' s a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. Test line. It ' s a good all-around combination, and it ' s on sale this week for only $20.00.” She says, “It ' s amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!” As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. “Oh, that sounds like a Master Card,” he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally tooted. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes......there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was her who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn’t know that she was the only person around? The man rings up the sale and says, “That'll be $34.50 please.” The woman is totally confused by this and asks, "Didn’t you tell me the rod and reel were on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?”
He replies, “Yes, ma ' am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00, and the Catfish Stink Bait is $3.50.”
I met a girl in the park the other evening. There was an instant spark between us and she immediately dropped to her knees and laid on the grass at my feet. As we lay making love, I thought, "These Taser guns are well worth the money."
When we get older we think differently don't we? This is a touching story. Just when you have lost faith in human kindness, someone who teaches at Kean Elementary in Wooster , Ohio forwards the following letter: The letter was sent to the Principal's office after the school had sponsored a luncheon for the elderly. An old lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door prize and was writing to say thank you. This story is a credit to all humankind. Forward to anyone you know who might need a lift today.
Dear Kean Elementary: God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizens luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the Sprenger Home for the Aged. All of my family has passed away. I am all alone now and it's nice to know that someone is thinking of me. God bless you for your kindness to an old forgotten lady. My roommate is 95 and has always had her own radio, but before I received one, she would never let me listen to hers, even when she was napping. The other day her radio fell off the night stand and broke into a lot of pieces. It was awful and she was in tears. Her distress over the broken radio touched me and I knew this was God's way of answering my prayers. She asked if she could listen to mine, and I told her to kiss my ass. Thank you for that opportunity.
THREE WOMEN, TWO YOUNGER, AND ONE SENIOR CITIZEN, WERE SITTING NAKED IN A SAUNA. SUDDENLY THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND. THE YOUNG WOMAN PRESSED HER FOREARM AND THE BEEP STOPPED. THE OTHERS LOOKED AT HER QUESTIONINGLY. 'THAT WAS MY PAGER,' SHE SAID. I HAVE A MICROCHIP UNDER THE SKIN OF MY ARM. A FEW MINUTES LATER, A PHONE RANG. THE SECOND YOUNG WOMAN LIFTED HER PALM TO HER EAR.. WHEN SHE FINISHED, SHE EXPLAINED, 'THAT WAS MY MOBILE PHONE. I HAVE A MICROCHIP IN MY HAND.' THE OLDER WOMAN FELT VERY LOW -TECH. NOT TO BE OUT DONE, SHE DECIDED SHE HAD TO DO SOMETHING JUST AS IMPRESSIVE. SHE STEPPED OUT OF THE SAUNA AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM.. SHE RETURNED WITH A PIECE OF TOILET PAPER HANGING FROM HER REAR END. THE OTHERS RAISED THEIR EYEBROWS AND STARED AT HER.
THE OLDER WOMAN FINALLY SAID..........WELL, WILL YOU LOOK AT THAT........I'M GETTING A FAX!!
When you stop laughing, send this to those who will appreciate it. Gotta love old gals!!!!*
well im still here! hubby too. He has been little ill last few days not sick just grouchy. He is having poops three times a day all up his back and everywhere. dont understand how he can poop so much. daughter in law came today, she said go lay down I am taking papa out in the yard. I slept from 4 to 6 and woke with him pulling on my feet. wanted to show me something. she was cleaning out the carport had everything out and was just a working. he didnt like it. I DID!!! I can pull my car in again. I guess neighbors wonder where all the junk came from. who cares it sure looks better. he just didnt like the idea. he has a work shop on the far end of carport and was thinking she was after HIS stuff i guess. she assured him she would not touch anything of his so he came and woke me mad as a hornet. he is real weak but will not nap or hardly sit down. its as though he is afraid to get still. I just love reading all the post and hope to really get in with all yall ladies and men. I hardly get to use the computer he does not like me to and when he goes to bed i have to wash clean and rest!! well have a good night and I love and pray for all of you caregivers. Hang in there!
Hi Yall, I guess most of you are in bed by now. Maybe not Linda if she is still having a great party. Happy Anniversary! Barbara, I hope you have a peaceful night with mom. I was having a pretty good morning then the family stuff came crashing in and I'm finding myself slipping into the black hole of dispair. I won't bore yall with everything. I hope you all have a restful night and tomorrow brings you a bright and beautiful day.
Dang it all. I had just written a long post and forgot to hit submit and lost it. Oh well I was just whining anyway. Y'all didn't really need to hear all that. I'm up with a migraine. The fioricet has caffeine in it so I'm awake. No fun being awake when every one else is sleeping. Kinda sux.
Ann I would tell your friend the truth. Simply tell her you don't want to lose her and are afraid for her. Tell her with love and she should understand. If the drugs are starting to control her and she is losing sight of people she loves, it is time for her to get help. Hugs, Kim
Watching Steel Magnolias which I think we all are here! I'll be crying at the end! Msm, how is your Mom? Hope better, but see you are still up too! Ann, hope that migraine goes away!
Kim when you finish that you should watch My Sisters Keeper. Talk about a boo hoo fest! Dad won't go to sleep? Is he in pain? I saw your long post on the thread. Have you posted again on that one? I was beginning to feel like I was trying to beat up on Ruth so I backed off. Even with the ha ha after what she said, I still think it was tactless. But I'm going to cut her some slack. She doesn't know us and what we've been thru. And we don't know her and her sense of humor. So....just sayin..
I've thought of having an intervention. But her husband is an enabler and she's going thru a lot of family problems right now. I'm seriously thinking about talking with her hubby and seeing if I can wake him up to what's going on. Their dil knows. I've talked with her and she is having the same problem with my friend. She's a nurse and my friend has asked her to get her Drs to give her a script for pain meds. Of course she won't. She's telling her mil that she needs her meds herself and only has a few so....... It's very had to know what to do. All I do know is that I can't give her any more. I don't want that on my conscience.
steel magnolias one of my favorite ever. i could use a little laughter thru tears -a little "weezy". moms had 2 different sedatives, is listening to hymns, and still moaning. Her room has an odd, sweet musky smell?
Ann, Dad just wants to sleep all day and wander all night. Just said he is going to bed, but I will wait until I actually see him snoring! I don't think you were beating up on Ruth. She just seemed a little cocky in her response. Good luck with your friend. Hard situation for sure. Sometimes your damned if ya do and damned if you don't.
Msm, don't know what the musky smell could be. Does she have any problems with her sugar? Sometimes that can bring on a sweet type smell. That is the only thing I can think of right now. Hope sleep comes to her soon so you both can get some rest. My Mom had stomach cancer and she would be up with excruciating pain. I would be so relieved when she could finally get some rest. Just makes you feel so helpless! Hugs, Kim
ketosis- just tracked down the smell and its her breath when the body is in ketosis, subjects often smell of acetone, sometimes described as a 'fruity breath' because the breath smells like pear drops. not eating, using her body fat for sustenance - thats it - and it is overpowering to my sensitive nose.
Msm that is it! I think Mom had that too. It is almost 11 years now, but thinking back I do think I remember that smell. Mom couldn't eat either. A friend has diabetes and sometimes when her sugar gets out off kilter she will get the fruity breath.
I think it is safe to go to bed now! Night all or should I say morning? Whatever. Hope the rest of this day is more peaceful for all especially you Msm. Love you guys! Talk later
