I'm wondering if I Should take my little one to doctor today-First I thought it was only a cold, but it never went away.I HATE going to the doctor, you never know what you might be bringing home, sometimes its worst than what you first have, always a hard call esp. during flu season.
thanks for the support everyone. Linda, I hope your dad is ok. Sounds like you may have to call the doc and explain the symptoms. Hope it's just a cold. love ya, ssk
Linda, there were times that my dad had pnuemonia and no fever.I think some respiratory problems are floating around-yellow goop coming from head -no good.
Linda, it sounds like your pa could be getting pneumonia or even congestive heart failure. I don't mean to scare you, hon, but I would call the doc. I hope it's just a cold. I can feel your love for your pa in your posts. You're such a good daughter. :)
sskape, you vent on girl. You have plenty to vent about. It seems like you should have Power of Attorney since you are taking care of your mom. Your brother is being a pig about giving you time off. That really sucks. He doesn't get it. I understand your loneliness. When I moved hubby in before we were married, my bro and sis threw a fit but it brought this house back to life and of course made me less lonely. He helped out so much. Bro and Sis treat him like he doesn't exist and we're married now. And you are right, it's not fair!! Just know that you are doing the right thing and you will be glad that you did, sweetie.
I WISH THEY WOULD MAKE IT ILLEGAL FOR A KID WHO DOES NOTHING TO HELP TO HAVE CONTROL OF THE PURSE STRINGS.I hear it all of the time, my own sorry lawyer'does NOTHING for his mom ,and his sister moved in with her-shes bedridden-he has ISSUES with his sister and all kinds of opinions ,but never offers help.He thinks you sit around all day watching TV AND EATTING COOKIES. He's in charge of the money though, just like my neglectful and shameful brother.Maybe you should question your brothers judgement .I DO NOT KNOW ANY OTHER JOB WHERE A PERSON HAS NO RIGHTS.
well said tenn , my hugs to you ! youre a good person and no money in the world can buy that . you have a wonderful daughter and she has a good head on her shoulders , bless her heart . ssk . i know it sucks to be a prisoner in ur own home , you do however have to stand on ur 2 feet and threaten ur brother to give u some time off or eles moms going to nursing home ! he wants u to stay there and he wants to save a bunch money so he doesnt have to pay for a nursing home , that is what its all about . sucks to have siblings uses us for the money at the end . when there was graduation parties going on last summer , i was so upset cuz everybody had plans and we couldnt , bro said to hire a caregiver and give us a break and to send him the bill . aint he sweet ! but i never did hire anybody cuz i dont want strangers in my home . but anyway it worked out at the end . you need to have ur say so in all this . come sit with mom soi can go bye bye if u dont im sending you the bill or moms going to nursing home . scare the crap out of him plzzzzzzzzzzz. pa is not feeling good , sounds like he has it in his chest , told hubby to goget some nyquill and dayquill , if that dont work then im takin him to er . sounds bad , he s gurglin and trying to cough up mucus and his eyes looks bad . poor guy ! first day i thought its all for attention cuz he do that sometimes , but last night it was non stop , now this am while ago he looks realy bad , he s drinkin his choc milk and coffee then im going to change him in bed . he has no enegry to get up , he has no fever and his ox is good . i will decide later if he does needs to go to ER . :-( i better get off here and go take care of pa . love you all , xoxoxox
In-Laws got us a blu-ray player for Christmas. Hubby is all psyched. We watched Valkarie on it last night. I'm not a big Tom Cruise fan but it was a good movie. Our evenings are an adjustment because normally I was in with Mom and hubby did his own thing. I wish I could have some moments back. Like when I'd be in there with Mom and she'd say, "Patti, I love you. I just felt like I wanted to say it." I'd say, "I love you too, Mom." and she'd say "Thank you." and I would say "Thank YOU." What a sweet lady she was.
I feel like having a pity party this morning, so skip this if you're not in the mood, just need to vent. I am living in my mom's house and her sole caregiver doing everything, etc, etc. I have two brothers. The one who has power of atty gives me some money each week for food and expenses. However, if I wanted to take a day off, or take a week off, he would not pay for a caregiver to come in saying we can't afford it. I'm chained here like a prisoner. i get some income from renting my house but I have to use it to pay for the mortgage I have on said house, so I'm just hanging on and breaking even. When mom passes, I am assuming that her house will be sold and we will divide the assets if anything is left.. My brother who is executer will probably help himself to some executer fees, I'm sure. My other brother just isn't really involved, he visits twice a year and we go out to lunch. It just isn't fair! Damn it! but I'm too depressed to do anything about it. Just keep taking care of mom and have no outside life. Can't afford to pay for a sitter so I can go out and do things. I do get 4 hr break on Sunday, and a two hr break during the week. It really gets lonely being here the rest of the time, like my life has passed by without really living it. (I'm glad I am able to be here to take care of mom, I am lucky to have a nice place to live, )but...since there are three of us in the family , me, rick, and dave, it just ain't fair, is all I'm saying. I guess I have vented enough. End of pity party.
Good Morning, Everyone. We sure have a mighty fine group here. I am honored to be in your presence. I was thinking yesterday of someday us all meeting at some destination and spending a few days together. Wouldn't that be awesome?? I would love it love it love it. It's cold here with snow on the ground and on the side streets. It's supposed to get up to about 30 today though. I work at 1:30. My checks have been small lately because as a part time person I don't get paid for time off. It sucks but that's the way it is. And yes, tennessee, thank God for Bobbie!! :))
This is end of the year stuff-lost two of my best dog friends-lost the farm-got sucked dry of money by attorneys-found out several so-called friends were trying or did profit from my dads demise.Got cheated out of 6500. dollars by someone I went to school with.New bull broke down six heifers.Found out that a attorney will not go up against a DA around here no matter what the situation.Lost our favorite Mamoth donkey -Ginger. Taxes keep on coming. When I first got on this site a year ago,a certain person said I was DONE IN-by my brothers and beyond help-now that comment hurt my daughter a whole lot and she will never forget it just as she will never forget the folks that have been so nice and supportive of us.THE person that made the comment was a Green-horn at caregiving,so we could easily disregard that statement. When my caregiving little one voiced her opinions there at the first,I was accused of pretending to be a ten year-old.I'm not smart enough to be a ten -year old-Daughter looked at it as compliment that she was thought to be 50.AnyHoo, the point is[Thank God for Bobbie,] Thank each and everyone of you for including my daughter-if you go by age she is probably the only one on thread who has care-given her whole life, and for you non-beleivers out there who think children don't contribute to caregiving-ask the Bob,because they do exist.Bobbie, glad you were born.
Good morning, Happy Birthday to bobbie, happy birth day to you. Thanks for starting this group and always being there for us. Hope they have a par tay for you at the dock. ssk
Jeff would be alive today if THAT doctor took the blood in his urine seriously. When I was taking care of my dad,I had people warn me that in my dads condition it was very normal for him to forget who I was and act inappropiately-he never was inappropiate, their were times he was having flashbacks to WW2 and I was afraid he would think I was a Nazi.It was scarey when he thought he was in WW2.J. has your grandfather always been that way or is it a old age thing.I agree your mom is for a rude awakening,In my family everyone wanted to be the chief and noone wanted to be the Indian.[can't have to many chiefs] Happy birthday to all of the holiday babys who have grown up to become the caring indiviuals that we on this site know that you are.Happy birthday to ya'll -Happy birthday to ya'll-happy birthday- dear fellow caregivers -happy birthday to ya'll.[that was real original] Time for New Year resolutions.......
Bobbie, yep, figured it out that he's your real cousin. I'm from the south & I'm slow, but I do get there! lol I think it's GREAT that he's posting with us!
Happy Birthday to Nik, too! Bobbie, will you get to talk to him? I hope so! : )
Rest well, sweet Bobbie! Hope you & Kitty are toasty warm now!
bobbie. that is really awesome that ur cuz says he reads this everynight . welcome cuz !!! pleasure to meet ya ! peachie. i have no clue what ure talking about , lol i give up .. you guys are realy good with jokes , made me laugh ! keep em coming !! rip . thats why dad said to leave his bladder alone , :-( at his age he just dont want tobe cut on or poked at anymore , cant blame him . i sat in his bdrm on his wheelchair watching tv with him , he likes that and fell asleep , im going to miss him when he goes . hubby is crying cuz days are getting closer for him to go back to work , jan 3rd . in a way im ready for him to go back and in other way im not . ah well .. think i ll go to bed here in a bit , you all have a good night xoxox
Bobbie, glad that you liked the FoxHole idea! Also glad that the dock drunk is being thrown out!
Bubba T, you're so funny! I'm sorry no calls, gifts or visits for you & your Mom. I totally understand...Our kids brushed us off, too! Not a word from any of them!
Kuli, thanks! I'm glad that the jokes are making you smile! Things will get better!
j, I'm sorry I missed you tonight! Thanks for the info that you left me on FB. I'll watch for it. Thanks! Yep, we got part of the storm. Had about 5 inches of snow. Haven't had a white Christmas here since 1882! Look at my new photos on FB. It sure was fun!
Thanks miz! Want you & Rip to get to feeling better real soon!
Kathy, things WILL get better! Vent baby! It'll make ya feel better!
Riddle for Linda...Sometimes ya gotta look a little more for what you've asked for. Let me know when you figure it out. lol
Welcome cuz!
Hope everybody can chase the sundowners away & can have a restful night! peach : )
old guy came home toasted after hitting a bunch of bars and he went on and on to his roommate about the 'solid gold toilets'. Woke up the next morning still talking about the 'solid gold toilets'. He tells his roommate that he's going back to find out exactly which bar had the 'solid gold toilets'. He spends the whole day going into one bar after another and asking the bartender: do you have solid gold toilets? No, no no and no. It's almost dark and he walks into yet another bar and asks the bartender: do you have solid gold toilets? and the bartender hollers over to the band: Mickey! we found the guy who pissed in your saxophone!
Thanks Linda - It's part of his prostate cancer. Catheter always irritates. Always infected, agitating rusty blood in his void ... I'm told.
Scares me so much .. like the side effects of chemo. You never can be sure of whats within the safe realm .... or what might be truly harmful & fatal. Just so his pain is tolerable. I've seen my mother, then him in severe pain ... Never EVER want him to deal with that again. Anyone else been there with a loved one?
An old man and his wife went to the doctor for a check-up.
While the man is with the doctor, the doctor asks him, "So how has life been treating you?"
The old man replies,"The Lord's been good to me. Every night when I go to the bathroom, He turns the light on and when I'm finished, He turns the light off."
While the old woman is with the doctor, the doctor told her what her husband said.
She replied, "Darn him! The old fart's been pissing in the refridgerator again!"
hehehe bath night too...and it isn't like she worked all day but she is still mad....Least he doesn't argue now...we put it on the calendar when he has had a bath so he can't argue...God he has had poop butt for three weeks now. I hope she plans on stepping This up at least....
Hello to everyone where ever you are, whether basking in the balm of an 80 degree evening or like many digging out from a blizzard...Neither here...Roads wet and bare but snow to come, but nothing like the infernal hammering the East Coast is getting !
Been there shoveled that in 08, snow drift so high I jumped off the porch into a five foot pile of snow just to do it...was fun...Pushing my moms van out of the ruts at 5 AM in shorts at 35 degrees not so much...
Mom is resting here 8 PM Monday her fist retirement day week so to speak and already she has "had enough of her father"...Well! I guess she is in for a rude, smelly, irritating, crotchety awakening then isn't she? Maybe she will stop thinking I am a pain in the ass and a selfish ingrate for having a break down and going to a respite center for a day just to get the hell away from him! One thing she won't have to deal with is fart pants does not flirt with, stare at, or in other ways behave inaproprately with her like he did to me. So all she really has is his endlss BS chattereinf yelling at the TV braying irritating laugh, idiotic comments and, this will effect her more than me, she loves her Tv and she has not seen much of anything she wants to watch in three years, now it will be an all day thing as he sits there yammering and talking constantly...I call it the SAP, Spoken Audio Program, as it literally is,, "Whats that he's got there, he's got a rope in his hand, is he gonna he's tying it on the fence post there that's a four by four isn't it?..."
It gets old really fast.....
She could just be getting a head cold, but I think not, I think her father 24/7 is really gonna make her ill...
Please don't let my mom be one of the statistics of the care givers who die before the care object....
had to go to center and get left over meds they neglect to send back to us. Bitchy Martinet of a nurse, they look at you like yer gonna go sell the crap on E-bay or something...Just give me my grandfather s f-ing drugs you harpie R.N. I know many kind nurses and I have met quiet a few didactic, snotty, arrogant, snarl queens as well....I know which I prefer for my pap smear assist!

I remember years ago when Mom and Dad were both still here and I was here or living here or whatever. It was very important to both of them that they talked to all of their kids on their birthdays. It made them happy. Sometimes, it got late and so I would call my sister and talk to her a bit and then say, "Mom (or Dad), ________ is on the phone!!", as if she had called them. Sad...
No,But the yorkie made mom dislocate her shoulder. Oh Yeah.once I saw a giant snake at the zoo eat a piglet.frozen. weird. What's a taylor pork roll? Yorkie's ripping her gingerbreadman to bits.apparantly he can't run that fast. She prefers big red noses to brown. she got 2 for x-mas,one red with brown nose(he's in pretty good shape) and one brown with red nose(hole in head and large hole in chest) Lil Tenny
speaking of dislocating, have you ever watched a rattlesnake dislocate their jaw and swallow something large like a Taylor Pork Roll? Amazing.
No rats or fish yet. Caught a big bug and flipped it over and screwed with it until it gave up. Bug looked at me and I said, you're on your own, bug. got on the wrong boat and the Cat said: Thassrite.
