Oh gershun, ouch, ouch, ouch!!! Does he usually step on your feet? Hotel sounds good or why not tell him to go to his parents until your foot is healed? I am a do-it-yourselfer too. Trouble is as your get older you need others to help you. I don't like it one bit. I've always been very independent

Prayers for safety for your foot and healing.

and tell him you have a bunch of friends on the forum who’ll be really mad at him too, if he steps on you again.

Gershun,
I agree.
And from experiences, I know that to be true for me as well.

Not sure it is that way for everyone. But maybe if you are the independent type, people around you have never learned to be helpful, but instead have relied on you.

If you need to keep someone away from your foot, Amazon has huge long distance water guns, both pistols and rifles.

Gershun,
You may have neglected other health concerns due to the pain of a broken foot.
Do what you can to best take care of yourself in all areas, while healing. Even resting is no fun because the pain can get to you.

Feeling overwhelmed, talk it out on here. I was surprised that so many caregivers have broken a bone. We could start a club.

We care.

Oh, I just read about hubs stepping on your foot.
Use the crutches, point one at him, and shove if he gets too close. Finally, a good use for crutches.

Ouch.

Thx Bundle,

I need to maybe stay away from my hubs for a while too. Twice now he's stepped on my injured foot. So far, not the broken part but give him time.

I'm so mad at him right now I can't tell you. I mean how hard is it to be careful around someone with a fractured foot? I told him to just give me some space. Keep at least a foot between me and your biga** stomping feet. One more time and I'm going to book myself into a hotel for the next four weeks.

i hope you don’t feel like that, gershun.

your foot will get better!! find out if the boot is a good idea…i think doctors probably have mixed feelings about using a boot vs. not using a boot.

the thing is, using a boot can weaken the rest of the foot/ankle, because it’s totally immobile. similarly, for broken ribs (without punctured lung), doctors used to wrap up the rib cage. years later, doctors started advocating against wrapping: just leave the rib cage alone, natural, let it heal.

it’s important nothing else bumps into your left foot to hurt it. but sometimes a boot (keeping the foot totally immobile) can have negative side-effects — sometimes no boot, natural healing, using crutches but leaving the foot in the open air is better.

but your doctor knows best of course, and you. i’m just saying, sometimes no boot is better.

feel better soon! :)

We also have pest control coming over tomorrow cause the moth flies are still ruling our roost. We tried traps we ordered online. But they have only caught two flies. I think I saw a couple of flies giving the traps the finger as they flew by.

So there's that. Then on Wednesday we have a glass guy coming by cause the hinges on the shower door we had installed 6 mths ago is malfunctioning. The warrenty just expired so DH is angry. I'll need to referee that encounter on my one leg. May need to use my crutch to break up a fight.

What more can happen. Oh, snow is in the forecast. Not planning on limping around with my crutches in that so I guess I'm housebound for a while.

Willie, I hope you never need to go down that route/boot either.

It's just so heavy and when I get up from a sitting position the pressure I need to put on my good leg is tough cause I have osteoporosis in that leg. Plus the sole is high on the boot so my body weight is not distributed properly. I'll use it outside but otherwise I ordered a higher sole orthopedic/arch support slipper online. I'll wear that at home when it arrives.

Today, I found some special metatarsal pads on Amazon. Support designed to help pain relief.

Those boots are extremely uncomfortable Gershun. Even painful. I know from personal experience. I wore mine once. Confusing, isn't it? How to comply so you will get better, but how to get better without the hassel.

Since I am not an expert, not a doctor, I could not suggest you did not get the boot. Maybe that is why your ER doctor was so no-committal giving you instructions. Maybe the doc knew most people won't wear the boot.

I think you can wear them when you need to go outside.
Do you have some soft specialty socks to wear under the boot?
Whatever works for you this time G.

Edit: Yeah, not too expensive.
Shopping is a natural form of pain relief through distraction.

Sorry to hear Send.

I had a frustration bawl today cause of my foot. The fracture boot is so uncomfortable. I actually found some slippers that have better arch support and is helping my foot feel more comfortable. So while I'm at home I'll wear them with the crutches. I'll save the fracture boot for when my patience is higher.

Hope you feel better Send.
