Find Care & Housing
Bike shop and tune up? For my old bike?? Ha ha ha, if your DH could see my bike he would forbid me to ride it, the tires are totally rotten. I have been out a few more times but am still not in any way proficient, I was never able to ride no hands but now I can't even ride one hand, (which makes changing gears tricky) so I stick to the back streets, sidewalks and trail where hand turn signals are not needed.

Cwillie,
How is the bike riding coming?
I told my dH you got yours out, and asked if he could find my bike (behind all his bikes).
He answered: "Tell her (Cwillie) to take her bike to the bike shop for a tune-up", because the screws or something can come loose after storage.  He is so sweet sometimes, endearing.

As far as my cheap flip phone goes, it is still lost, but dead in the house somewhere.

Just taking notes here. My dH can disappear in a small store. He always stands just outside and behind my peripheral vision. If I turn to look for him, he is gone. Turning around the other way....not there. Oh, there he is, in front of me now.  10% shopping, 90% looking for him.

That is depressing, to think he is playing games. Now I don't want to go anywhere.

My sister used to complain of a scenario eerily similar to FF's when she would take her in-laws shopping. After there was only MIL she still had trouble, but it is easier to keep track of one than two. The funny thing is that sis hasn't learned anything from this, or maybe she is getting dotty in her 60's, because I hear nephew complain about her all the time, he says he makes her push the cart because it is harder for her to disappear!

Mom used to have to go to the loo as soon as we got to the grocery store - those carts are like walkers
I'd say meet me by the bananas - she never did
She did go tell the checker I was lost and to page me - fun times

cwillie, you brave soul taking the bike out for a spin. I still have the bike my parents gave me for high school graduation [that was way before kids got cars for graduation].... the bike kinda looks like me.... the tires are flat, a bit of rust on the frame, the chrome needs polishing, etc. I plan to donate it as bike riding isn't very safe with all the traffic here :(

Sendhelp, you looking for hubby is the reason I had stopped taking my late parents to Walmart. Mom would get her cart, Dad would get his and both would head off in different directions. After an hour or so, Mom would be tired and had everything she wanted in her cart... so I would guide her over to the pharmacy where they had bench for her to sit.

Then I would go looking for my Dad. I would go around the store 3 times, that must be a couple of miles right there. Now my Dad was very short [shrunk over the years] so not easy to find. Ah ha, there he is. I guide him to where Mom was sitting.

Oops, Mom has disappeared. I tell Dad to sit down and wait. So I go around the store looking for Mom. Oh did I mention my parents were in their 90's? Mom is hard of hearing and is legally blind. Eventually I find her, she said she got worried and went looking for Dad. Looking??? So back to the pharmacy bench we go. Now, where did Dad go? Rinse, repeat !!

I'm not sure what you have available there, but I have a cheap old fashioned flip phone that I top up monthly for only $11.30/month, you can buy phone cards or use your CC to top up online. Not good for people on their phones constantly, but enough for me, I am still able to talk and text, nephew has even sent me pix.

Ha ha ha, HE has one!

Lol, lol, lol, he takes all the electronics in the house! I had one, he took it over. He bought one, but it requires a plan. My sister loaned him one for Uber. My original one is lost.
Any solution that we discuss just requires more money, and he chooses strange plans, unknown to me. Or it is a known company but the service is sub-contracted through another company. (Ting, TrueStream), what do I know? Except that I am not using a credit card online if he has access to the numbers, and he would!!!

Someday, I promise myself, to stop behaving like a victim and get my own, really expensive phone. Maybe I won't even give ANYONE the number!!!! I will just have it.
It will have a pretty cover, a car phone charger, and a house charger. But I will have to hide it from him. Crazy, huh? La la la la la, lol!!!! , Caregiver gone crazy!

Yep, he has all the cell phones!

Hey! My foot is not broken, it just felt that way. And I haven't fallen since 2015, because I really slowed down. So pleased to have my foot adjusted today-doc said two joints were out of alignment, and now I can put weight on it.
Dh disappeared, was not there when I needed to go home, looking, looking, he was not at the market, looking looking, he was leaving the parking lot at the chiropractor when I RETURNED, looking for him. Asking (3x) where would I have looked for you next if you had left again? NFD.
It is this kind of stress that makes my heart skip beats.
Glad to be home. I would be so condemned by others if I left him to take the bus home. He would wander in much later, or, and here is the problem: Not at all!
Don't worry about him, he's not in trouble.
But this frustration in the heat is making me sick.

BTW, Cwillie, to answer an earlier comment about haven't I fallen before?  Yes, 3 times over 5 years.  Last was 2015, I believe I mentioned it here.  The new doctors would like an accurate history, missing from my nedical records sent.  I can only do so much to get others to do their jobs accurately.

I've been eyeing my old bike and thinking it takes up a lot of space in my little garden shed so I decided I either had to relearn how to ride it or put it at the curb. So, first day out I'm terribly terrified, and on top of that the seat was loose and tilted back at a painful angle. 2nd day I adjust the seat height and angle and manage to get the half mile to the edge of my neighbourhood and back home again.... I think I can do this! After several more practice sessions today I walked my bike across main street and headed for the 5 km trail I usually walk/run along the river, and found out just how much muscle it takes to tackle little hills, curves and rough terrain, (OK, I admit I had to walk up the hills) but I did it! I am woman, hear me roar! or maybe hear me gasp and groan lol ;)

Gershun,
A loft condo is all the rage, hope you both get it.

That is serious what happened to you by the chiropractor, and could be responsible for some troubles you are having today. There are nerve conduction studies that might show what's up. Or, you might have had a pre-existing condition such as a bone spur that was aggravated by the adjustment. Hope that some kind of follow-up was done.

Best wishes for success with all your plans!

I wouldn't have minded getting pregnant by "The Rock", Dwayne Johnson that is. LOL!
I don't usually like big men but he is so nice too. LOL My apologies to his wife. :)

So, Hubs and I saw a place today that we are putting an offer on. It's a loft style condo right next to a quay. It would need some reno but we are still fairly able bodied. It all makes me sick to my stomach though, the thought of moving after all this time. But onward and upward as they say.

As far as the planks go. Yeah, I think I have to stay at 60 sec. for a while. I was proudly showing my Hubs and he says "Ah, this is easy" Hmph..............Why can't men just say "Wow, you're doing great!" Considering I haven't been well..........:(

Good news Send, on the chiropractor and all that. I went to a chiropractor once. He cracked my neck and I felt numb down my left side for a couple of days. I was so scared. Never went again. But, glad it works for you.

I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. My left forearm has been so sore. I can't even pick anything up with it and it keeps me awake too. Then Tuesday I have a phone interview for a job I applied for. Sort of a pre in person interview to see if I even want to work there. I'm not certain that I should even be thinking of jobs right now with everything else going on but I may not get an offer on it anyhow. And we may get outbid on the condo too. So no point counting my chickens yet.

Anywho, that's all my news folks. Hugs to all of you!

I like to check a local web cam at the lake west of here to see the weather coming my way and also to see what is going on at the beach. I just checked and see a massive shelf cloud just off shore, clicked over to environment canada and sure enough there are storm warnings. I just don't get what is wrong with all the people who are swimming and hanging around the beach, you would have to be blind not to see bad weather coming. At the very least they will get wet, at worst....? SMH.

MsMadge, have you ever "cracked" your knuckles?
It sounds like that, but nothing breaks, it adjusts the joints.
The chiro adjusted my neck-gently, to coordinate with my breathing; both hips, down my spine (crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch) ahhh, relief.....!

Just the Physical Therapy menu sounds like this: By a board certified orthopedic physical therapy specialist, a licensed DPT, OCS.
Personalized treatment plans to Reduce Pain & Dysfunction, Improve Muscle Flexibility & Strength, Increase Balance & Coordination, Improve Postural and Muscle Imbalances, Eliminate Muscle Spasms, Shortened recovery times.
One does not need to see the chiropractor.
I am sharing this because everyone should be able to find expert health care without surgery- or surgery as a last resort. imo.

Wow Gersun,
I'm impressed - you ever get cramps in your toes while doing it?

I saw an elite athlete be challenged to hold a plank on a fence post which looked more like a superman pose

I definitely need new glasses and to work on my balance -

20 years ago I hurt my foot running - and I think it makes my opposite hip hurt from trying to compensate for it - sitting at a desk for 10-12 hours a day doesn't help

Gershun,
Well, that explains a whole lot, your feeling out of sorts. So happy you have the correct lens now, what a relief! Vision is an entire important feature of overall health! Let us know all the new and happy changes you notice in your outlook!

Not sure what boarding is: Are you lifting boards? Being water boarded? Doing an exercise that flattens your stomach tight as a board? Walking the plank? Building a wooden boat?

The personification of inanimate objects interests me.  After naming our walkers, shower stools, and B/P cuff's  (Mighty Tighty-thanks for that Luckylu, lol);  I was wondering if the shower stool has a name for us in return: "Oh no, here comes blubber butt, is she gonna sit on my face again?"
"Ow, ow, owie, that hurts, and the water is too too hot!"

Yes, the chiro did pull my leg, both of them! Then he phoned to see if I was ok, left a message to re-instruct new patient to use ice, 20 min. 2-3 times daily, drink water, see him on Monday.

They give vitamin injections, taking an actual blood test to determine deficiencies; Physical Therapist, Neurologist, Acupuncturist, Non-surgical spinal decompression; Pain Management techniques without pain meds, tens unit, massage, and my favorite brand of nutritional supplements. This, and more! They smiled: "Yes, I am a wall walker".
They treated me well without being condescending.
