Berserk? Sounds like something an Eskimo would wear on their feet. Am I right? What do I win? There is no in and out burger place here.

When bad drivers cut Hubs and I off or what have you, I hold up my little finger meaning small male appendage cause no offense but it's usually a man with small man rage when it happens.

Send,
Be glad you're not driving with a Viking in the passenger seat -
Mom loves to blurt out the word, A*&&Hole, to anyone she thinks is!
One time, her window was down and so was the other driver's and I know he heard her :(

New Contest: Prize is (you guessed it) a gift card to In n Out

What is the origin of the word "BERSERK?"

Speaking of road rage, one time driving on a residential road I had this vehicle riding my bumper... the speed was 25mph and that is what I was doing... the driver behind me didn't like that, if I had the hatch opened I bet that vehicle would have driven in.

Anyway, I decided to signal to pull over to the curb and let that realllllly impatient person pass me, and once she went by I got back on the road. About a couple miles down the road, lo and behold there was that vehicle.... she got caught in a speed trap... boy did I smile as I drove passed her :]

I just found out I am about to "exceed my PTO balance" at work.. so I found a day that is overstaffed and they gave me off that day. May I mention it;s while Mom will be at Aunts? And we are not telling her? 4 days off alone with hubs!! we may take a short trip! He is at the river house alone tonight ( his father and cousin arrive tomorrow to give Dad a fishing trip again... ) I'd be reveling in the me time.. but I think he is sort of dreading the visit,, and I;ll be leaving mom alone while I work. Hope she stays away from ladders!

Not that long ago, in bad traffic on a two lane highway, a car kept cutting me off. They would get out of the passing lane, speed up, then try to re-merge into the passing lane when they'd get behind slower vehicles in right lane. I was frustrated with this. To me, why not stay in the slow-but-steady passing lane when there's traffic like that? But this person was a lane hopper. They must've seen me making faces in their rear view, or sensed it, because the cut me off (NO SIGNAL) yet again and flipped me the bird outside their window for several minutes as I was following along behind them. Well... game over for me. I slowed down, gave them lots of room, and stayed out of their way. If I get the feeling someone is being overly aggressive then I get out of their way. Some part of it is that I recognize they could do something truly foolish or dangerous, but also because it makes me feel so demeaned as a person. We're driving. We're adults. But we're not acting like it. When I sense that, I feel silly and then I act my age again. ;-)

I recall the road rage of LA. I don't see that around here. When I'm talking about my spaz sessions, I mean that I'm inside my own car, saying or thinking very not nice things about the ineptitude of these occasional other drivers who seem to not have a clue that they SHARE the road with others. lol...

I have occasionally flipped the bird, but will do it passive aggressively from the safety and non visibility of inside my own car.

I agree - let them have the entire road if it keeps things safe. :-D

Ali, Here in L.A. we call that mini-spaz session "road rage".
I am so very willing to let them have the entire road, give them lots of space, and smile sweetly as I let them go first-mostly because I am afraid.

Sounds like you're driving in the towns next to mine, Send. These drivers around here can occasionally cause me to have a mini spaz session. I was driving up to city on Saturday, saw one driver so bad that I figured they had to be BADLY impaired so I called in their license plate to state police. I felt like a snitch in a way, but I also felt I might save their life! Driving around my neighborhood, and anywhere around in Chicago, is not for the faint of heart. I should put metal shields on all sides of my vehicle, Mad Max style. :-P

Arriving too too early for work, dH and I stopped by a store-swear that my experience there was just like Veronica's at the big home repair store. Sure hope that spacey kid gets to keep her job.
So, driving 15 miles, seeing 5+ crazy mistakes drivers make-ummm, hang up the phone and drive people! And, their cars have already been bashed up, and not repaired. Never saw so many, not just dings. Me? I am driving so very careful.

So mom's sweater and cross body purse that she wears around her neck like a feedbag disappeared for the umpteenth time last week and I couldn't get anyone at her memory care facility to take an interest in looking for it - it has her most precious belongings - Kleenex, lifesavers, readers digest and of utmost importance her money (fake of course )
Finally after 4 days I call and offer up a gift card (you guessed it to in n out) to whomever finds the dang thing and within hours both are returned to her closet 🍔🍟
Of course by the time I Get there after work Friday evening - it's gone again
And no one knows where it was found earlier in case lightening strikes twice

Finally I ask someone else on Sunday and they find it - I decide to empty it out to look for missing items - once all her fake money was taken - $154 - some staff member must have thought they hit it big - ha ha

Lo and behold nothing is missing but I discover a jelly donut in her purse - so I asked her why she had a donut in her purse and like anyone caught with contraband she said - I don't keep donuts in my purse - What do you think I am - crazy? 🍩🍩🍩

Lu,
My mom had a red travel walker that folded up to carry on the plane - we called it red rider - she hates red though

Hope you had a good meal or two in Vegas and didn't just walk the Strip sipping a yard long piña colada 👯

Luckylu, Yes, the American version of baked beans have molasses and salt pork added to the recipe, and that was in New England, originating around Boston, or beantown.
The baked beans on toast are famously from the UK.

Guess you knew that though?

G'night Lu.

Luckylu,
Those are some good memories to hold onto. It has been over 15 years since Vegas, and I heard that what goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But I enjoyed the football-sized casino of the MGM Grand, and it's underground shopping mall. And we once had a room there with a jacuzzi in the floor of the suite. Never much of a gambler (all in on the red), I invested in a dress that was appropriate for travel - -
(could be wadded up and then worn); and some bling shoes with clear vinyl allowing me to walk that far in heels without going lame.

Ms.Madge,
Your avatar photo must be either really scary, or some kind of bad that is not allowed on this forum. lol.

Whenever I have tried to steal a photo free off the internet, and it comes in the jpg format, I cannot use it for my avatar.

You can, however, choose a different photo. What was the photo, hmmmmmn?
Did it have a faded "istock" patent acoss it? Was it a branded photo, of say, for instance, in n out?

Have you been behaving, or bad?

It was a real TRIP that year to Vegas with Mom.She was determined to see all the casino/Motel lobbies she could and she walked everywhere on her red walker we called "Red".One day we walked from the Wynn to the Encore and that was crazy far for her...and I.We loved Ceasar's,The Bellagio, and the Venetian the best but because of a deal my husband took,We stayed at The Excalibur that week. The most restful day was the day we went to Hoover Dam which Mom didn't care for.My husband loved the topless show called "Jubilee" the last night we were there. It is a Trip I will never forget for sure. And ofcourse Mom took her stuffed bunny"Teeg" along for comfort for her broken neck. And the on the plane ride home, her cane was lost so our first thing to do when we got home was to go to the medical supply store.

Same here, we always try to eat at local places while in Europe. But one time I was on my own, so I want to McDonald's.... there I was struggling to pronounce items in German, then the counter clerk read back my order in English. We had a good laugh about that :)

I agree, I refuse to eat at "chains" when traveling abroad... if in doubt ask a local what they like, and try it!

There may be Whimpy's left but I haven't seen one in last 35 years just American type burger chains & I go to UK regularly when I can - such a shame that nobody has chance to eat 'local' anymore so I avoid those at all costs because I feel they are destroying the uniqueness of travelling - found it takes a bit more time but local eateries are there & usually better in taste & quality

Lu,
Great story and great show

If you are a Liberace fan - he is laid to rest here in California

for a long time my mom wanted to go pick out her gravesite so she could be near her family - they are in an older section of the cemetery which is sold out - a few years ago I took her to look at some resale plots and one was in the courtyard with Liberace and Bette Davis so I jokingly said this is the high rent district - as we are looking at the plot for sale mom starts walking around and notices that most of the grave markers are of folks born in the late 1800s and she says I don't want to be with all these old people 😹
