Recognizing dementia can be difficult, because many of the early signs, such as forgetfulness, memory loss and lack of concentration, resemble the natural signs of aging. If you think your elderly parent has dementia, talk to your doctor, who can teach you how to recognize the signs of dementia. Your doctor may also run some cognitive tests on your elderly parent if dementia is suspected.
